2COL and JETCOL vendor policy:
The shareware industry is going through a transition regarding payment of
royalties for shareware. Since old versions of shareware programs do tend to
"hang around" for long periods, I am adopting a flexible policy to try and
remain current throughout this period.
My basic policy regarding royalties is this: I want equal treatment with other
authors.
If you are a catalog or rack vendor or CD-ROM compiler and you are paying ANY
other author a royalty for distributing their shareware, I require a royalty
equal to the highest royalty you pay for a given distribution medium but not to
exceed 8 cents per program copy distributed. In other words if the highest you
are paying another author is 2 cents, I want 2 cents per copy. If you are paying
some authors 10 cents per copy I require 8 cents per copy. It is a simple as
that. If your royalties are different for different media, use the royalty
appropriate to that medium.
If you are not currently paying any royalties to anybody, you don't owe me any
royalties. Royalties would begin accruing to me only if you begin paying
someone else.
Royalties need not be distributed to me until at least $25 worth have
accumulated.
Anybody distributing 2COL or JETCOL must make clear that they are only charging
for program distribution and are not selling the program itself. If you wish to
charge more than $10 to distribute a disk containing my program, you must
contact me first for my permission. If you are a CD-ROM distributor, you may
charge up to $50 for a disk containing more than 100 programs without my
permission. You may not modify or delete any files in this archive. You may
de-archive or re-archive these files.
I will be willing to entertain offers regarding marketing my shareware in
preregistered form and would be willing to discuss modifications of the terms
described above. You may contact me at the address below.
If you are a catalog or rack vendor or a CD-ROM compiler, I would appreciate,
but do not require, that you notify me when you begin distributing my products
in order to keep you updated with the latest versions. I would also appreciate
(but do not require) receiving a catalog or sample of your distribution package
so that I can advise you of any inaccuracies in your documentation.
My policy is subject to change without notice but an individual vendor would not
be affected until explcitly notified either directly by me or by reading an
updated version of this VENDOR.DOC. If a vendor violates any of the above terms
I will require a royalty of $1 for every copy of 2COL or JETCOL distributed in
non-compliance of my terms as described above.
